what to expect & other details you may be curious about

Please arrive about 5-10 minutes early to check in, lay out your mat, and get settled. If you have any injuries or limitations, just let the instructor know upon arrival and they will happily provide modifications throughout so you may fully participate.

Bring your own mat and any props you love to practice with (blocks, a blanket, a strap/belt/rope, meditation cushion). If you need a mat or props, let us know at least one day in advance and we will happily accommodate your request.

We encourage you to wear any clothes that you are comfortable moving in — “yoga” attire is neither required nor expected.

You'll be guided through a hatha yoga flow to warm up your full body for about half of the length of the class. The flow will have an additional focus on activating specific energetic centers to support the kundalini kriya.

We then dive into the kriya: an intentionally designed sequence of movements, combined with breath and sometimes sound. This portion of class may feel a bit odd compared to other yoga classes you may have taken; just remember that doing strange and unknown things helps to condition the nervous systems and psyche to better navigate the unpredictability of life.

When the kriya ends, we will ground ourselves with breathwork and/or meditation, and finish with a full savasana to allow your energy to completely settle. You can expect to move into the rest of your day in a refreshed, clear, tuned-in space.

All kriyas shared by time/space yoga are taught from the instructor’s own direct experience; they have been tried and tested many times, and are well-loved due to the energetic effects they bring. These kriyas have been passed from teacher-to-teacher, are sourced from different lineages of kundalini yoga, and have been practiced by thousands of students who report similar energetic effects.

Kriya has been shown to help move energy through different parts of your energetic field, increase the resiliency of your nervous system, and release emotions and negative patterning that you may unconsciously be holding.

In doing these strange and unknown patterns of movement and breath, we help our mind become comfortable with new, unknown experiences. The neurons that fire together wire together, which helps to create new neuropathways. Following that line of logic: wholeheartedly and excitedly participating in something unknown (like a kundalini kriya) wires you to notice and welcome new experiences and reactions into your life.

That same life you’ve been living begins to feel different, even if the components of it hasn’t changed. You can take a negative-leaning mood to your mat, use a kriya practice to move that energy, and then tune into the new frequency you’d like to carry through your day.
